Dave Tan, MSN, RN is a PhD candidate with over 16 years combined experience in patient care, administration, leadership, quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory licensing and accreditation. His clinical nursing expertise include pediatric radiology, medical/surgical, solid organ transplant and inpatient rehabilitation. His research focus was initially geared towards registered nurses (RNs) experiencing the Second Victims phenomenon that typically follows after patient safety event.

His dissertation now focuses on relationship between the inpatient RNs' job demands, burnout and intention to leave during the COVID-19 pandemic. His hope is to gain new knowledge on the outcome of his dissertation, in order to help healthcare organizations to better care for one of the most important employees in their institutions: the nurses.
When Dave is not working on his research, he enjoys traveling, snowboarding, working on home improvement projects and spending time with his wife and family.
