Nalo Hamilton

UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing Associate Dean and Associate Professor Nalo Hamilton, PhD, MSN, APRN-BC, has been named a Fellow of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH).

This is the first-ever class of NPWH fellows, and the designation represents the highest honor for board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners, according to the organization. The fellowship recognizes those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, scholarship, and service in advancing women’s and gender-related health care.

“This is indeed an honor that I thrilled about. It represents my unwavering dedication to the health of women across the lifespan. I am grateful and humbled to be included in this inaugural class.”

With a doctorate degree in biochemistry as well as extensive clinical experience as an advanced practice registered nurse, Dr. Hamilton brings an interdisciplinary approach to breast cancer research. Her work bridges molecular science and clinical application, advancing therapeutic strategies for women with breast and lung cancer.

Beyond her research, Dr. Hamilton is a dedicated educator, advocate and practicing clinician. At UCLA she is one of the principal investigators for the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Ralph J Bunche Center for African American Studies.  She partnered with the Florida-California Research and Education Center to lead a national workshop supporting 150 women with breast cancer and their partners. Her expertise is sought after at both national and international nursing conferences, where she is a frequent invited speaker.

Dr. Hamilton, along with 13 other nurse leaders, will be officially inducted during the inaugural Fellows of NPWH Induction Ceremony on Oct. 1, 2025, in Las Vegas, NV.
