In the News: UCLA Nursing alum featured in NY Times’ article on NFL players turning to nursing
Patrick Hill graduated from the school's Master's Entry Clinical Nurse program in 2016
UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing alumnus Patrick Hill was recently featured in the New York Times article, The N.F.L. Players Trading Their Helmets for Scrubs.
A former fullback and running back for the Tennessee Titans, Hill came to UCLA Nursing after retiring from the NFL. He graduated from the school’s Master’s Entry Clinical Nurse (MECN) program in 2016 and received his RN license a short time later.
UCLA’s MECN program is designed to prepare those with undergraduate degrees in other subjects for a career as a Registered Nurse. The program attracts a diverse range of students who bring expertise and experiences from many backgrounds, including professional sports.
The recent New York Times article highlighted the journey of several former pro football players to the nursing profession. Good Morning America also covered the story and sat down with Hill for an interview.
