Dr. Hahn an ANCC board-certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in gerontological nursing and holds certification from the Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association in the specialty of developmental disabilities nursing. Sites of advanced nursing practice include:

Research and Scholarship

Dr. Hahn is a leading authority on health and aging issues of persons living with life long disabilities, health promotion and illness prevention across the lifespan for persons with disabilities, and nursing curriculum development in disabilities.

For the past five years, she has been funded to conduct several research intervention projects addressing the health and aging needs of adults with lifelong intellectual and developmental disabilities including an in-home intervention model conducted by advanced practice nurses that shows promise in reducing health risks.

Dr. Hahn has also had lead roles in curriculum development and continuing education for nurses, families, and caregivers including workshop-based continuing education programs, computer-assisted-instruction, and Internet web-based nursing continuing education programs for nurses. She was the lead consultant on the 75-hour web-based Developmental Disabilities Nursing Courses funded by National Institute of Nursing Research. (Grant # R43 NR04738-03; M.Willis, HealthSoft, Inc, PI.

Currently, she is the principle investigator on a project funded by the California Department of Developmental Services to develop training materials about palliative and end of life care. Dr. Hahn is leading a project at the Tarjan Center called “Addressing the Needs of Individuals Aging with Disabilities.”
