| The SEIU UHW-West & Joint Employer Education Fund is seeking a nurse educator to work with students (near Whittier, CA)whom we are sponsoring in community college nursing programs. The students are incumbent healthcare workers returning to school to further their careers. As working adults, our student population comes with unique assets and challenges. Nurse Educators are expected to facilitate students’ success in academic achievement by: (1) tutoring students and recommending appropriate learning resources for them, and (2) serving as an occasional seminar instructor for pre-nursing modules and integrating ‘how to learn’ with ‘what to learn’. Educators who are flexible and innovative are highly encouraged to apply. Educators will evening and weekend availability are encouraged to apply. |

| Responsibilities: |
• Tutoring students to deliver personalized services to improve their learning experience, including: (1) Med Surg, (2) Pharmacology (3) OB GYN, (4) PEDS, and (5) Critical Thinking.
• Provide supplemental instruction to students currently enrolled in a nursing program.
• Teach, demonstrate, and reinforce critical study skills for academic success
• Facilitate student-led learning communities
• Provide strategies for studying ‘smart’. Help students get ‘big picture’, then details.
• Provide students with insights on their learning styles

| Requirements: |
--Hold an ADN, BSN, MSN or have an advanced degree in nursing.
-- Ability to synthesize text book concepts with real-life application.
-- Possess experience in the application of multiple intelligences for adult learners.
-- Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds
-- Good level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
-- Must be adaptive, resourceful and confident
-- Must have good listening skills and respect for the adult learner
-- Must have a flexible schedule
