Admissions Requirements
The UCLA School of Nursing will admit new undergraduate students once each year at the freshman level and beginning in Fall 2008 will admit a limited number of transfer students at the junior level. The School requires completion of a supplemental application to allow potential students the opportunity to provide additional information about their preparation for entry into the nursing profession.
Freshman Applicants: Freshman applicants must satisfy the general freshman admission requirements of the University of California and provide the information requested on the School of Nursing Supplemental Application for Freshman Admission.
Current UCLA Students: Current UCLA students may apply for a major change using the School of Nursing Supplemental Application for Change of UCLA Major linked below. Applicants for a change of UCLA major will be considered in with either the freshman applicant pool or the transfer applicant pool depending upon the units and coursework completed. Current UCLA students with 102 or more units completed should consider application to the MSN/MECN program after completion of their current degree program. Applicants should be in the process of completing the required coursework as follows: Chemistry 14A, B, C or Chemistry 20A, B & 30A; Communications 10; Life Sciences 2, 3 & 4; Physiological Science 3 & 13; and Psychology 10.Please Note: A change of major may add an additional year to your academic program at UCLA.
Transfer Applicants: Transfer applicants must have completed all IGETC requirements or all general education requirements at the school where currently or previously enrolled and the equivalent of all of the non-nursing premajor courses as follows: Chemistry 14A, B, C or Chemistry 20A, B & 30A; Communications 10; Life Sciences 2, 3 & 4; Physiological Science 3 & 13; and Psychology 10. Application Procedure
Students are admitted for the Fall Quarter only. Two separate applications are required - one for admission to the
University and one for acceptance to the School of Nursing. The UC Application must be completed
online at www.universityofcalifornia.edu/apply by November 30th.
The UCLA School of Nursing Supplemental Application must be printed and mailed with a postmark on
November 30th or before. The instructions, application and recommendation forms are provided below.
