David Bailey's background spans more than 30 years in nursing management, including leadership positions in critical care, cardiovascular services, respiratory therapy, among a few other departments at hospitals in Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina before moving to California to join UCLA Health.

David has published multiple articles, and his research revolves around authentic and relational leadership practices in executive-level nursing. He has also presented on multiple topics in various venues, including podium presentations, panel interviews, webinars, and poster presentations.

David Bailey's professional affiliations include the Association for Leadership Science in Nursing (ALSN) where he is actively engaged at the national and international level on several initiatives; he completed his presidential term in 2023. He also holds membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives where he has earned the distinction of being a Fellow (FACHE). He also holds Fellow status in the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) and in the American Organization of Nursing Leadership (FAONL).  He is also a member of five professional organizations and hold a critical care certification (CCRN) through the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and certification as a Nurse Executive (NEA-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
